The Mission

  • Community

Create a community of young people sharing their experiences, inspiring others and connecting with those on the same journey. That's why we're by students, for students.

  • Build Connections

Build connections between students who have already done an exchange abroad with those who are preparing to go.

  • Helping Hand

Help calm the initial anxieties of moving to a foreign country and facilitate the process of getting settled in. That's finding the right accommodation, advice on money, safety and how to meet people.

  • Accuracy & Efficiency

Provide accurate, up-to-date information about destinations around the world under one roof - no more time wasted on scouring the internet for the right information.

  • Reach

We want to reach thousands of students in the UK and beyond and support them in the process of going on a year abroad.

  • Knowledge Source

Become a source of knowledge regarding Brexit and the new Turing scheme to learn about the expansive opportunities and benefits of living abroad.

Our Story

My name is Alfie Laurence and I’m the Founder and Director of Student Travel Tips. In February 2019 I moved to São Paulo, Brazil as part of my year abroad placement from the University of Bristol. Naturally, I needed to find accommodation, I needed a job, an ID card and all the other important bits to get me started in a new country. However, I really struggled to find this information online and had no friends out there.

I talked online with other students on their year abroad and it seemed like everyone had the same problem. That’s when I realised that what we really needed was a one-stop shop in the form of a website, and I got the impression from other students that that’s what everyone wanted… So I started building it!

Over the past 2 years, we’ve built a great community of student travellers, sharing their experiences – good and bad – to help students in years to come make informed decisions about their adventures abroad. Student Travel Tips has a team of people ready to answer your questions and connect with people around the world. I really wouldn’t be able to do this without the help of the STTeam updating, verifying and collecting up-to-date tips and resources. A special mention goes  to our website developer, Beth, for putting together this website.

I hope you enjoy the site,
